After many visits, this is my first review for Taqueria El Pollito. The food never dissapoints. I usually always order their tacos. They are fast & affordable. Beware, the cost of each taco is $1.50, not $1.25 like the menu states. The portions are small, so one individual will likely need 3-5 tacos.
They also take phone in orders!!! Call ahead place your order and pick up, no need to wait in the parking lot.
FYI: Cash Only!!!! -

Very disappointed that this truck has had several consistency issues over the last few months. It was absolutely delicious with the meat cooked and seasoned properly, nice grilled onions and jalapeños, and good sauce. But the last three times I've been here, it's either no grilled onions offered, no pickled carrots (which isn't that bad) to this last time where the meat had no salt and neither did the sauce! I am baffled at why they can't keep the consistency here, it's a simple taco truck! Come on! Now I'll just have to drive another 10 minutes to Nolensville to get good tacos. Also, I want to mention they recently increased price, so definitely not worth it anymore! Go elsewhere people!

My typical authentic taco truck jaunt is Nolensville Road, but I was majorly craving tacos and found this food truck on 8th Avenue and decided to give them a shot since it is close by. I came during lunch and it is located in a small Shell parking lot close to the Melrose Kroger. I was able to get a spot in front of the gas station, but parking was more and more busy the longer I was there. I can definitely see parking being a problem, so keep that in mind. I ordered 2 pastor,1 carnitas, and 1 lengua taco. I had no language barriers ordering, and received a number for my order which I've never had before and felt was a nice touch. I think I waited longer than usual for my tacos, but they were pretty busy and taking orders over the phone in addition to walk ups, so it was a reasonable wait for their popularity. I was able to choose my sauces, and they have the typical red sauce and the creamy jalapeno (which is my favorite). Unfortunately the ramekins were small, but I didn't get any push back when I asked for extra. The lengua and pastor tacos were my favorite; I wouldn't recommend the carnitas but overall I was very pleased! They also came with plenty of raw and grilled onions and the sauces were very good as well. I left with 4 tacos that were right under $6 which is still a steal and they were better than most of the upscale taco joints in town. I would highly recommend giving this taco truck a shot and see myself coming here a lot more often!

I just left this taco truck and I have been many times before and have loved it, but never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect by someone in the restaurant business! Whoever was working tonight 8/21/2017 close to 8:00pm, shame on you!! You're a disgrace to the goodness of taco trucks!
We walked up to the truck, of course smiling our guts out because we love taco trucks and it's one of our favorite spots, and the guy sees us but chooses to continue doing something and not answer...that was fine, take your time. He finally asks for our order. I go first, say that's all for me, boyfriend comes up behind me to order and he walks off and just makes mine. So okay, he'll ask and make his after.
But no, he came up with my order and threw it down with the total. I gave him the cash and said "he would like to order some food too" in a friendly manner, and he just got mad because I didn't have exact change. Actually got mad. Then walked off. He heard me say there was another order too. I said "excuse me please, he would like to order too," nothing. Walked off the truck and threw some trash out, still very close to us and my boyfriend also said "Hello??" still completely ignoring. At that point he walked behind the truck, very clearly could hear me say "Excuse me?" and even looked at me and looked away. I kept trying to get something from him for the sole purpose of respect but he'd look at me like he hated me then looked off.
There is nothing in the world wrong that we did to be treated like that, wouldn't even take my boyfriend's order. We are nice people, we come there all the time but never will again! I got in the car and cried, I know that may be silly but he really did make me feel terrible and I loved that taco truck so much.
I thought about it and truly believe he did not like that I was hispanic and had a white boyfriend, and that's why he wouldn't serve or acknowledge him. Only explanation. I never experienced that before. That's very hurtful.
Owners - fire whoever that was working tonight or no one will come here anymore. No one should be treated like that ever. -

I wanted something quick and delicious. This hit the spot!!!! I lived in California half my life and appreciate authentic Mexican food. This was it! The guy who sold my food was exceptionally nice too. I will most definitely be coming back.
